85 accident turns fatal




The town of Salem was sent to a head on collision which turned out to be in the town of Montville. Car 21 was first on scene and immediately called for a medic and lifestar. Upon the squad and engines arrival they found one vehicle with very heavy damage and another suv on its roof. No extrication was needed and both patients were transported. (pics to follow

Motorcycle Meets Gaurdrail




Wednesday afternoon Lyme and East Haddam along with Salem were dispatched to a motorcycle accident way out by Devils Hopyard. When Salem's squad and ET arrived they found heavy damage to the gaurdrail and bike with two patients who were not wearing helmets with minor injuries. Lyme y-200 transported both.

Strong Storm Rips Through Lake Hayward

Last week a confirmed microburst ripped through a portion of Lake Hayward rigt on the edge of Colchester. Much damage was reported and the area was without power for 2 days. The red pickup was there when it all fell.

Rollover with ejection White Birch Rd




At around midnight tuesday night SVFC and Gardnerlake were dispatched to a 1 car rollover with ejection. Squad 121 and ET 121 were amung the first on scene and found a suv with heavy damage to the roof and also 1 patient out of the vehicle sitting in another. The crew from ET 121 secured the fluid leak while the patient was packaged and loaded.

New Truck Ordered for SVFC


After the referendum on july 9th the town approved by 23 votes the purchase of a new 75' telesqurt. The apparatus due to arrive in june will be manufactured by American LaFrance. Thanks to the townspeople for voting and showing their support.

Mutual Aid to Colchester



Salem's ET and Tanker were started for a kitchen fire in the Lake Hayward section of Colchester. Command stated fire had been contained so units could secure. However some personnel did make it to the scene to help out.

Fast Team Training




Tuesday night members from Salem and Colchester's Rescue 1 crew practiced using rope systems and pulleys to help evacuate a down firefighter through a hole in the roof.
